Enabling online buyers to pick seats and get promo tickets

Jakarta, August 11, 2012 – Tiket.com, Indonesia’s first integrated site which accommodates travel and entertainment reservations marked yet another milestone by rolling out its service for rail passengers ahead of the end-of-Ramadan holiday exodus. Through a joint cooperation with state railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), Tiket.com users are now able to book any type of train seats to all available destinations across Indonesia, within minutes.

Throughout the years, the train has become a favorable mean of transportation for the travelers during the Idul Fitri holiday. PT KAI predicted that the peak of holiday exodus this year will fall on “D-4” and “D-3”, when hundreds of thousands of Indonesians head to their hometowns. However, the number of train passengers has been declining as air travel becomes more affordable and easier to access.

“The easiness in buying tickets is one of our customers’ expectations and Tiket.com has become our first partner to provide an online ticket reservation service,” PT KAI’s Manager Promotion & Marketing Communication R. Agus Dwinanto said. He added that Tiket.com users now can buy ticket “as easy as buying candy” without being limited by location and time. Also, have the chance to access promotional tickets during certain periods. User who makes booking through the site is allowed to make some adjustments, such as picking a seat during reservation or getting a refund up to one hour before departure time.

“This online ticketing system is in-line with PT KAI’s goal to minimize queue in front of ticket booths and ticket scalpers,” Tiket.com’s chief executive officer Wenas Agusetiawan said. “We want to build the e-commerce industry in Indonesia, and Tiket.com will be focusing as a travel and entertainment reservation platform with nationwide range,” he explained.

Tiket.com currently receives payment through bank transfers (to BCA and Bank Mandiri account), BCA KlikPay, KlikBCA and credit cards. The site is accessible through internet browser on desktop computer (http://www.tiket.com) or mobile devices (http://m.tiket.com). It also provides business-to-business opportunity for developers to build applications or to become resellers. One of the ongoing projects is the train ticket reservation application which will soon be available for Nokia Asha.
